The Tank (2023)

The Tank (2023) is a slow-action horror film that combines family mystery with classic monster horror. Directed by Scott Walker, the film focuses on Ben (Matt Whelan) and his wife Jules (Luciane Buchanan), who inherit a remote and deteriorating coastal estate in New Zealand following the death of Ben’s mother, from whom he had estranged. Hoping to turn the isolated property into a new beginning, the couple discovers a terrifying past.
When Ben opens an old underground water tank in the ground, he unknowingly awakens a monstrous entity buried for a long time. As creepy events begin to ravage the house (disappearances, unexplained noises and signs of something lurking), the couple realize they’ve unleashed a creature that once terrified Ben’s family.
With no help nearby and danger lurking, Ben and Jules must unravel the property’s dark history as they struggle to survive the horrors that lurk underground. With a melancholic atmosphere, realistic creature effects, and a growing sense of terror, The Tank offers tension and terror rooted in isolation and legacy.
It’s a chilling story about what happens when the past refuses to stay buried, and something ancient is waiting to be resurrected.
