The Longest Yard 2 (2025)

The Longest Yard 2 (2025) retakes history years after the original, starring Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler), now a retired football legend, living a quiet life. When a new scandal breaks out in a maximum security prison, the director (played by a cunning new antagonist) decides to revive the infamous inmates vs guards football game as a publicity strategy. This time, there’s more at stake: the winning team gets early parole, while the losers face harsher sentences.

Dwayne Johnson is joining the cast as Jack “The Rock” Carter, a former NFL star unfairly incarcerated. Crewe is hired as a consultant, but soon finds himself training inmates again, this time alongside Carter. They both form an awkward alliance, combining Crewe’s cunningness with Carter’s strength and leadership. The film’s plot focuses on the team’s struggle to unite a new generation of inmates, each with its own quirks and stories.

Training montages, comedic mishaps and emotional moments abound as the team faces sabotage from guards and warden’s shady tactics. The highlight match is a brutal high-stakes showdown, with Carter and Crewe leading a last-minute comeback.

In an unexpected twist, Carter is offered a game-loss deal, but he denies, inspiring the team to victory. The movie ends with the victory of the inmates, exposing the mayor’s corruption and clearing Carter’s name.
