Triple Threat (2019)

Triple Threat, directed by Jesse V. Johnson, is an action and martial arts show that brings together some of the genre’s biggest international stars in a no-barrel showdown. With Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa and Tiger Chen as the central trio, the film follows a group of mercenaries who must protect a multi-million dollar heiress (Celina Jade) from a team of elite assassins led by ruthless agents played by Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White and Michael Bisping.

This movie focuses on delivering pure, adrenaline-fueled action, and it does not disappoint. The plot is basic and serves mainly to chain a series of fighting scenes, shootings and mind-blowing acrobatics. But with this cast, that’s exactly what fans are looking for. From body-to-body combat to brutal fights and shootouts, the action is intense, thrilling, and with thrilling choreography.

Every martial arts star has a chance to shine. Tony Jaa’s agility, Iko Uwais’ fierce Silat style, and Tiger Chen’s precision offer a variety of combat techniques, while Scott Adkins steals several scenes as a lethal and charismatic villain. Overflowing talent makes every meeting seem like a mini-wind.

While the story lacks depth and character development is minimal, Triple Threat stands out for its simplicity and uninterrupted action. It’s a love letter to martial arts fans, created by people who clearly respect the gender.

If you’re looking for a complex narrative, this isn’t it, but if you want to see world-class fighters face off in explosive fashion, it’s a must-see movie.
