BUDS (2025)

Netflix spared no expense in bringing BUDS to life, allocating a $75 million budget to produce the 10-episode series. This budget reflects the platform’s confidence in the comedic chemistry of Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler, two of the most iconic comedy legends of their generation.

A significant portion of the budget was allocated to securing the talents of Carrey and Sandler, whose combined star power was a major draw for the project. Additionally, Netflix invested heavily in high-quality production design to recreate the distinctive setting of Greenfield, where much of the series takes place. The series also boasts a stellar cast, including several emerging comedians, and a team of experienced writers and directors who have worked on hit comedies in the past.

BUDS premiered globally on Netflix on April 18, 2025, and quickly became one of the platform’s most-watched series of the year. In its first week, the series racked up over 100 million hours of viewing, topping Netflix’s global charts in several countries. Critics praised the series for its hilarious humor, heartfelt moments, and the undeniable chemistry between Carrey and Sandler, who had never before worked together on a major project. Fans were especially drawn to the duo’s ability to balance absurdist, over-the-top comedy with genuine emotional depth, making BUDS a hit with both longtime fans and new audiences.

BUDS’s success is also attributed to its clever marketing campaign, which included viral clips on social media, behind-the-scenes footage of Carrey and Sandler improvising, and a premiere event featuring a live comedy show with the cast.
