The Princess and the Frog (2009) is a charming and heartwarming Disney animated film directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. It marks the return to Disney’s hand-drawn animation style after a long hiatus, capturing the magic and whimsy of the classic Disney princess films while introducing a fresh story set in 1920s New Orleans.
The film centers around Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose), a hardworking young woman in New Orleans who dreams of opening her own restaurant. She is a determined, ambitious character who, despite her humble background, has a strong belief in making her dreams come true through hard work. However, her life takes a fantastical turn when she encounters a prince who has been transformed into a frog.
Prince Naveen (voiced by Bruno Campos) is under a spell cast by the wicked witch doctor Dr. Facilier (voiced by Keith David). When Tiana kisses the frog, believing it will turn him back into a human, she herself is turned into a frog. The two embark on a journey through the bayous of Louisiana to find a way to break the curse. Along the way, they are joined by a cast of quirky characters, including a trumpet-playing alligator named Louis (voiced by Michael-Leon Wooley) and a firefly named Ray (voiced by Jim Cummings).
