Plot Overview
The story follows Mary Lennox (Kate Maberly), a young, orphaned girl raised in British India who is sent to live with her reclusive uncle, Lord Archibald Craven (John Lynch), in his large but somber estate in Yorkshire. Initially a lonely and cold-hearted child, Mary soon discovers a locked, neglected garden on the property. With the help of her sickly cousin Colin (Heydon Prowse) and a local boy named Dickon (Andrew Knott), Mary begins to restore the garden to its former beauty. As the garden comes to life, so too do the spirits of those around her, with the natural beauty of the space serving as a metaphor for growth, renewal, and healing.
