The film follows Veronica “Ronnie” Miller (Miley Cyrus), a rebellious teenager who is sent to spend the summer with her estranged father, Steve (Greg Kinnear). However, as family secrets and heartbreak emerge, Ronnie must navigate love, forgiveness, and personal growth.

Directed by Julie Anne Robinson, the film premiered on March 31, 2010, featuring Kelly Preston, Bobby Coleman, and Carly Chaikin. Based on Nicholas Sparksβ novel, The Last Song was developed alongside the book, making it Sparksβ first screenplay written before the novel was completed. While critics were mixed on the film, it became a box office success, grossing $89 million worldwide.
