DESPICABLE ME 5 (2025)

Despicable Me 5 marks the return of Gru, Lucy, the girls, and of course—the mischievous Minions—in their biggest and most explosive adventure yet! This time, the stakes are global as a mysterious new villain, known only as “The Phantom Z”, emerges with a plan to erase every record of villainy in history and rewrite the world in his image.
Gru, now semi-retired and trying to enjoy a quieter life with Lucy and their expanding family (yes, baby Gru Jr. is now toddling around), is pulled back into the Anti-Villain League when they discover that “The Phantom Z” is targeting past villains and stealing their tech—including Gru’s old gear!
The story spans multiple continents, from high-speed chases in Tokyo to an epic Minion-led mission through the catacombs of Paris. The Phantom Z’s goal? Use a Quantum Memory Rewriter to erase the world’s collective memory of all villains—starting with Gru.
Gru must team up with unlikely allies—including his long-lost cousin from Italy, Vittorio Gruzzi, and a reformed Vector—to stop the Phantom before the timeline is permanently rewritten. Meanwhile, the Minions get their own hilarious side plot as they form a secret resistance group, “The Yellow Underground,” complete with wild disguises and banana-based gadgets.
The climax features an epic showdown atop a flying fortress powered by stolen villain tech. Gru finally defeats Phantom Z using his wit, heart, and help from his family—proving that even villains can change.
With a budget of $100 million, Despicable Me 5 is expected to earn a massive $800 million globally, proving that this franchise is still king of animated comedy. Packed with laughs, heart, and Minion mayhem—this is Gru at his best.
