Hard Target (1993) is an action thriller film directed by John Woo, marking his Hollywood debut. The film stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as Natasha Binder, a street-wise drifter, and Lance Henriksen as Emil Fouchon, the antagonist. The story is loosely based on the classic short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” which revolves around humans hunting other humans for sport.
In Hard Target, Natasha is searching for her missing father when she encounters a group of mercenaries led by Fouchon, who have been hunting homeless veterans for sport. Natasha becomes embroiled in a dangerous game as she teams up with Chance Boudreaux (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme), a former soldier, to survive Fouchonβs sadistic hunting game.
