Gladiator (2000)

Plot
Maximus is a respected Roman general serving Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris), who wishes for him to succeed him. However, Commodus, the emperorโs scheming son, seizes the throne by murdering his father and ordering Maximusโs execution.
Betrayed and left for dead, Maximus is captured and forced into slavery as a gladiator. Rising through the ranks of the arena, he becomes a symbol of hope for the Roman people and sets his sights on exacting revenge against Commodus.
