One Life (2023)

Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued over 600 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia.

Based on true events this is one the most uplifting and truly heartwarming movies I’ve ever seen. Anthony Hopkins puts in another stellar performance in the lead and there’s also a great supporting cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Lena Olin, Johnathan Pryce, Adrian Rawlins, Romola Garai, Alex Sharp, Samantha Spiro, Samuel Finzi and Johnny Flynn as young Nicholas Winton. With a tone-setting score from Hauschka (Volter Bertelmann) this movie is about as good as a biographical drama can get, I’m sure I’m going to watch it again before the year is out and it’s bound to end up in my year’s top ten list. This truly is a must see!
