Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) is a beloved holiday comedy film directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes. It is the sequel to the hugely popular Home Alone (1990) and stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, a resourceful young boy who once again finds himself separated from his family during Christmas, this time in New York City. The film retains much of the charm and humor of the original, with a new setting and more booby-trap-filled antics.
One year after the events of the first film, Kevin McCallister and his family are planning to spend Christmas in Florida. However, at the airport, Kevin gets separated from his family and accidentally boards a plane to New York City while the rest of the family heads to Florida. Equipped with his father’s credit card and plenty of cash, Kevin enjoys the city’s luxurious offerings, including a stay at the Plaza Hotel.
Meanwhile, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), the bumbling burglars from the first film, have escaped from prison and are also in New York, plotting to rob a toy store on Christmas Eve. When Kevin discovers their plan, he sets up a series of elaborate traps in an abandoned townhouse to stop them.
With the help of some new friends, including a kindly pigeon lady in Central Park (Brenda Fricker) and the toy store owner Mr. Duncan (Eddie Bracken), Kevin once again outsmarts the thieves and helps ensure that Christmas is saved.
