The Croods (2013)
The Croods (2013) is an animated adventure-comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation. Directed by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, it takes place in prehistoric times and follows the Crood family, a group of Neanderthal-like creatures, as they embark on a journey through a dangerous, ever-changing world. The family is led by Grug, a cautious, overprotective father who wants to keep his family safe. However, when a young, resourceful outsider named Guy introduces them to new ideas and inventions, tensions arise between him and Grug.
The film is known for its vibrant animation, witty humor, and heartwarming themes of family, change, and adaptability. The voice cast includes Nicolas Cage as Grug, Emma Stone as his daughter Eep, Ryan Reynolds as Guy, and Catherine Keener as Grug’s wife, Ugga. The Croods was a commercial success and received positive reviews for its engaging storyline and beautiful animation.
It later led to a sequel, The Croods: A New Age (2020), which continues the family’s adventures and explores the theme of evolving relationships between the Croods and a more “civilized” family.
