Backcountry (2014) is a Canadian survival horror-thriller directed by Adam MacDonald. The film is inspired by true events and follows a young couple on a camping trip in the wilderness that turns into a terrifying fight for survival.
The story revolves around Alex (played by Jeff Roop) and his girlfriend Jenn (played by Missy Peregrym), who decide to go on a hiking trip in the remote forests of northern Ontario. What starts as a peaceful, scenic getaway soon becomes a nightmare when they find themselves lost in the wild, struggling to survive after a dangerous encounter with a massive black bear.
As they try to find their way out of the woods, the couple faces terrifying threats from both the unforgiving wilderness and the relentless predator stalking them. Their relationship is tested as they must rely on their instincts and each other to survive.
